Hello 2021! It’s only been 8 days into the new year and it’s been a wild ride. Aside from getting my Mailchimp hacked and our country on the verge of civil war… I think I am doing just fine. I have a roof over my head, food on the table and a fast connection to the world wide web. What else can you ask for? My life has done a complete 180 since March 2020, but for some reason I am still internally happy and truly thankful for everything I do have.
Like many, I had the rug pulled out beneath of me and somehow had to figure out how to walk on water. You know what they say, “if you stumble… make it a part of the dance.” That is exactly what I did when I lost my job, I decided to dive head first into live-streaming. WOW, what a journey that has been. From building an at home live-streaming studio to viewers asking me to show my feet… it has been quite the experience. I thought it would be a lot easier, but honestly I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I told myself that if I had all the DJ equipment, broadcasting it online should be a breeze.
My first online broadcast was on my birthday and the sound was horrible… in fact for a good month my sound was horrible because some of the equipment and cables I needed were out of stock or were going to take over a month to deliver #covidproblems. I didn’t care, I still streamed my sets because there was still so much I needed to learn and I was alone in my apartment all day with no human interaction. It was fun for me and I got to chat with some old friends and meet some new. I even tried to sound proof my apartment with some DIY panels made out of towels and 2X4’s… I ended up cutting my foot when hanging them. I told myself “well, no one can say I didn’t work hard for this… it is literally taking my blood, sweat, and tears to get myself online.” And yes… I do talk to myself. It was all a learning experience and I am thankful to announce that after 8 months of lock down, I have a brand new website, blog and an events calendar to keep you posted on all my music/DJ adventures.
From this day forward, you will know exactly where I am streaming and what time. I know the past months I have been all over the place… streaming whenever I can b/c my life has honestly been so uncertain. I am not even sure where I am going to live! What I do know…all I need is my music and a good internet connection. I can’t wait to see your faces in real life once again, but until then I hope to chat with you on my livestreams. Cheers to us making it through 2020 and the courage to move forward in 2021 – no matter the circumstances. We can do this! Let’s get to work on our dreams, because I know you can be whatever you want to be as long as you believe. When you are feeling down, remember we all have been there. When I feel down or need a pick me up, I just put on some music…. as my man Bob Marley would say – “one good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain, so hit me with music… hit me with music now.” As I write this and the world seems to be falling apart, I sit in my happy bubble listening to some tunes. Seems like we are going to be here for awhile, so might as well have some fun. The world is what you make it, after all.
With Love,
Jes Danz
